Safeguarding and Pastoral

Safeguarding

The safeguarding practices at St. John's and St. Peter's CE Academy are characterised by an unwavering commitment to the well-being and safety of our children. We have implemented robust systems and procedures to ensure the protection of our students. Our approach is informed and guided by the Birmingham Right Help Right Time resource (Right Help, Right Time - Birmingham Safeguarding Children Partnership (lscpbirmingham.org.uk), which provides invaluable support and guidance in this critical area.

One of our key strategies for safeguarding is the utilisation of early help assessments. We understand that early intervention is paramount in addressing the needs of our students and their families. By identifying challenges or concerns at an early stage, we can swiftly put appropriate support in place, thereby preventing potential issues from escalating. We firmly believe that this proactive approach is essential in creating a safe and nurturing environment where our children can thrive.

Our commitment to safeguarding is unwavering, and we continuously review and adapt our procedures to ensure that they remain effective in protecting the welfare of our students. We work closely with external resources and agencies to stay up-to-date with the latest best practices and to ensure that our students are provided with the highest level of care and protection.

Anti-bullying

At St. John's and St. Peter's CE Academy, we are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all our students. Our anti-bullying policy reflects our dedication to this cause. We firmly believe that all staff share in the responsibility of upholding this policy.

Our entire school community can rest assured that we take a strong stance against bullying. We pledge to respond promptly and effectively to any reports of bullying. Bullying will never be tolerated, and it will always be treated with the utmost seriousness.

Our Pastoral Care Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness of this policy. Their responsibilities include:

  • Regularly monitoring the implementation of this policy.

Working diligently to help staff promote positive relationships between students to prevent bullying.

Seeking inspiration and learning from best anti-bullying practices from other educational institutions.

Continuously updating and evaluating our practices to keep up with the ever-evolving technology landscape. This ensures that we provide the entire school community with current advice and education on fostering positive online behavior.

We are committed to making our school a safe, welcoming, and nurturing place for all students, and we encourage the active involvement of our staff, students, and parents in this shared mission. Together, we can create an environment where everyone can thrive, free from the harmful effects of bullying.
